Trump refused to call Putin a war criminal

The former president of the United States explained this by saying that it could interfere with negotiations with the aggressor country of the Russian Federation.

Former US President Donald Trump refused to call Russian President Vladimir Putin a war criminal during a CNN debate because he said it could disrupt negotiations with Russia.

In his opinion, the accusations against Putin should be discussed “later.”

“If you say that he is a war criminal, it will be more difficult to conclude an agreement to end this case (the war in Ukraine – ed.). If he is a war criminal, people will arrest him and kill him him, he’s going to fight harder than in other circumstances,” Trump said.

The former US president called the Kremlin leader “very smart” and “very cunning.” However, he believes that Putin “made a mistake.”

“His mistake was that he invaded (Ukraine – ed.). He would never have invaded if I were president,” he added.

It can be remembered that Trump previously promised his voters to end the war in Ukraine 24 hours after his election for the second term of the presidency.

The former president of the United States also declared that he would allow Russia to take part of the territory from Ukraine, “to avoid war.”
