The leader of the PKK “Wagner” Yevgeny Prigozhin said that the Russian army fled from positions in Bakhmut and exposed one of the flanks of the front, which the “Wagnerites” had to cover. He delivered an ultimatum to the defense department of the Russian Federation and the General Staff – if ammunition is not allocated to his mercenaries, they will leave their positions.
Prigozhin once again released several video messages related to the catastrophic shortage of artillery ammunition. At night, he announced a video in which he threatened to denounce if the ammunition was not delivered by 10.40 on May 9. In the second video, which appeared at 10:53 a.m., he again complained about the Russian military leadership.
He again accused the Russian generals of a lack of ammunition, “destruction of the Russian people” and “treason.” The cowardice of the regular Russian 72nd motorized rifle brigade (which fled the battlefield, retreating 3 km) and units formed by Gazprom (refusing to participate in hostilities) was repeatedly noted.
Separately, Prigozhin published a passage about a certain “happy grandfather” who “may turn out to be an asshole.” According to the context of the speech, most likely, someone from the leadership of the Ministry of Defense had in mind. However, the statement sounds so ambiguous that it can be assumed that Vladimir Putin meant by the infantile “happy grandfather”.
