A 49-year-old recipient from the Kyiv region received a new heart. Donor – from the Poltava region.
The first heart transplant took place in Poltava. This was announced by the head of Poltava OVA Dmitry Lunin on Telegram on Tuesday, May 9.
“This is incredible news not only for the Poltava region, but for the whole country. A 49-year-old recipient from the Kiev region received a new heart. The donor is from our region ,” he wrote.
The successful operation was performed by doctors of the Sklifosovsky Regional Hospital together with colleagues from the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
Recall that earlier in Ukraine, for the first time, a skin transplant was performed on a child from a posthumous donor. Five patients were saved in Lviv thanks to a posthumous donor.
