The head of the Japanese government said he sought to use the meeting as an opportunity to reaffirm the G7 countries’ unwavering solidarity with Ukraine in its opposition to Russian aggression.
Support for Ukraine is one of the priority issues of the G7 summit, which will begin on May 19 in the Japanese city of Hiroshima. This was in reference to Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who chaired the meeting, NHK reports.
It can be noted that the preparations for the reception of the leaders of the seven most developed countries have reached the final stage. Also, the coordination of issues for discussion has been completed.
According to the publication, the Japanese side plans to put Ukraine, China, North Korea and nuclear disarmament at the top of the agenda.
Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, whose words were quoted by the publication, said he sought to use the meeting as an opportunity to reaffirm the unshakable unity of the G7 countries on Ukraine in its opposition to the invasion of Russia.
Kishida also said the G7 leaders will discuss challenges in the Indo-Pacific region, global economic and financial recovery from the coronavirus pandemic, climate change and digitalization, including artificial intelligence.
Referring to the final document of the summit, the Japanese prime minister said he was determined to clarify its theses until the last minute and formulated the message that the G7 leaders should send to the world as accurately as possible.
It was previously reported that the G7 is planning to ban all their exports to Russia.
Recall that the foreign ministers of the G7 countries have confirmed that they are committed to strengthening the provision of measures against the Russian Federation and support for Ukraine.
