On Monday night, 35 Iranian drones attacked Kyiv. The mayor of the capital, Vitali Klitschko, called this attack the biggest since the beginning of the war.

As BILD deputy editor-in-chief Paul Ronzheimer wrote from Kyiv, the attack “failed miserably,” with Ukrainian air defense systems shooting down all 35 drones.
Ronzheimer interviewed Klitschko. He stated that to combat drones, the Armed Forces of Ukraine use Stinger MANPADS and mobile units of pickups, from which they shoot at drones. German self-propelled anti-aircraft installations Gepard are also used, which have become the most effective means of air defense.
We are incredibly grateful to Germany for this. A year ago, such a massive attack would have looked very different and would have done much more harm,” Klitschko said.
According to him, Western Iris T and Patriot systems are not used to repel drone attacks, because they have too little ammunition and are expensive.
We urgently need more weapons and ammunition so that we can defend ourselves, Klitschko added.
As BILD was told in government circles in Ukraine, the lack of some weapons casts doubt on the start of the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is much talked about.
Recall that the night attack on Kyiv on May 8 was the largest since the beginning of the war. This was stated by Mayor Klitschko. More than 30 drones attacked the city on Monday night, he said. All of them were shot down by air defense systems. There were no deaths, but five people from Kiev were injured, two of them are in the hospital. Several buildings damaged.
Klitschko personally visited the apartment destroyed by the wreckage of the drone.
In Odessa, a warehouse guard was killed during a rocket attack. A fire started there after the missile attack. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, drones and missiles also attacked Kharkov, Kherson, and Nikolaev. There are dead and wounded civilians.
