The incident testifies to an intra-Russian confrontation and may be the result of the activity of local resistance forces or “showdowns” at the top of the Russian Federation.
Ukraine is not involved in the “drone attack” on the Kremlin and will not waste time on such an operation. This was said by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, published on May 8.
“There is an official position of Ukraine, officials: no, they are not involved and there is no need for it. Because the measures of the Ukrainian security and defense forces are aimed at de-occupation, the liberation of Ukrainian territories and the neutralization of the enemy’s military facilities,” he said.
The GUR representative believes that it is strange to spend time and effort on such an operation, which requires serious planning and the use of serious resources.
“It is impossible to interpret this event as an assassination attempt on Putin, because Russian propaganda presented it very quickly and very quickly,” Yusov insisted.
According to him, the situation testifies to Russia’s internal confrontation and delegitimization of the regime of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“What is it? It can be different situations – from the activity of local resistance forces to showdowns between the “towers” of the Kremlin. Because in any case, if it is interpreted as an internal confrontation of Russia (and it is), then this is an event that works to delegitimize the Putin regime and show that he is not in control of the situation,” the intelligence official said.
He also does not exclude the version of the Institute for the Study of War that the Kremlin carried out a provocation to create the conditions for the next wave of mobilization.
“That is possible. But when we talk about the Kremlin, we have to remember that it has different “towers” and different people live in them, often with different, and sometimes even which are conflicting interests. Therefore, the inhabitants of some “towers” may very well” be involved in it,” summed up Yusov.
Remember, on May 3, Moscow announced an “attack by Ukrainian drones” on the Kremlin, regarding it as a “planned terrorist act and an attempt on the life of the Russian leader” Vladimir Putin on the eve of the Day of Success.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky assured that Kyiv has not made any “attack” on the Kremlin and is using weapons to protect its territory.
