Many military personnel are injured and have serious health problems. This was reported today, May 6, in the Tegelram channel of the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
For the protection of their own land, the enemy tried to hold a court over part of the defenders. In violation of all the requirements of international humanitarian law, the Ukrainian military was threatened with long terms of imprisonment.
Among those released from captivity:
- participant in the “helicopter” mission of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense to evacuate the wounded from Azovstal. The evacuation helicopter he was in was shot down, but the warrior managed to survive. Seriously wounded, he was threatened with the so-called “trial”. Now the serviceman will undergo a course of treatment and rehabilitation;
- a young couple who got engaged at Azovstal;
- a physician who was already a prisoner of the Russians after the Shirokinsk operation (2015). Then he was in captivity for more than two years, and after his dismissal he went to serve again. He was captured again, defending Mariupol and Azovstal from the invaders;
- a veteran of the Afghan war, a 56-year-old chief sergeant, who was injured on the Maidan, went through the ATO, JFO and repelled the full-scale aggression of the Russian enemy.
