Russian senators face up to 15 years behind bars or life imprisonment with confiscation of assets.
The Security Service of Ukraine has expressed suspicion of all Russian senators. They supported the illegal “attachment” of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine to the Russian Federation, according to the website of the special service on Saturday, May 6.
It is indicated that law enforcement officers have collected evidence for 170 senators of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. In February 2022, they supported Russia’s ratification of the “treaty of friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance” with the so-called “LPR” and “DPR”. The officials also supported the current Russian President Vladimir Putin’s appeal for the use of the army outside the Russian Federation.
In addition, in October of last year, senators supported “joining agreements” with the temporarily occupied regions of Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions in the Russian Federation.
The SBU revealed suspicions of Russian senators for:
-
part 3 of article 110 (interference with the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine);
-
part 5 of article 27, part 2 of article 437 (planning, preparation, initiation and execution of an aggressive war).
Russian senators face up to 15 years behind bars or life imprisonment with confiscation of assets.
Recall that in March the court passed a sentence for 20 deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. They all received 15 years in prison. The beginning of the term for serving sentences for convicted deputies is from the day of actual imprisonment.
It was also learned that two deputies of the State Duma died in Russia in one day.
