The coronavirus is no longer an international health emergency, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a threat, the agency said.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 5.5 million cases of the disease have been detected in Ukraine, including almost 416,000 in children. This was announced yesterday by the Ministry of Health.
As a result of this disease, 112,268 Ukrainians died (of which 89 were children, 1,256 were medical workers).
“The COVID-19 is no longer an international health emergency… However, this does not mean that the COVID-19 is not a threat, it is only evidence that the vaccination of the world’s population has produced results and , thanks to this, it has become possible to reduce the number of hospitalizations and deaths as a result of the disease,” said the statement.
It will be remembered that on May 5, the WHO announced the end of the COVID-19 pandemic. The coronavirus is no longer considered a global health emergency. At the same time, the publication of the COVID-19 Strategic Preparedness and Response Plan 2023-2025 was announced. States are encouraged to continue to implement the Temporary Recommendations provided.
It is known that during the pandemic the world recorded 764 million cases of infection and at least 7 million deaths.
