Armin Papperger assured that the company will be able to produce up to 600 thousand bullets per year for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The German defense company Rheinmetall plans to supply Ukraine with up to 600 thousand artillery shells per year. This was stated by the head of the company Armin Papperger after the visit of the EU Commissioner for Industry Thierry Breton, according to Handelsblatt on Friday, May 5.
The European Commissioner went to the Rheinmetall plant in Unterlus to discuss further support for Ukraine.
Recall that the EU has promised to provide Ukraine with one million artillery shells a year to help defend against attacks.
“This goal must be reached quickly. Because of the intense fighting, Ukraine risks being left without ammunition,” Breton said.
Papperger revealed how many bullets his company could produce.
“We can produce up to 600,000 shells a year,” he said.
Notably, EU High Representative for External Affairs Josep Borrell said that the EU will continue to supply Ukraine with military equipment, weapons and ammunition to meet the urgent needs of the Ukrainian military.
