During the visit, he will take part in the coronation ceremony of Charles III. The trip began with a meeting with Prime Minister Sunak and his wife.
On Thursday, May 4, the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska arrived on a visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain, the Office of the President reports.
The purpose of the visit was to participate in the coronation ceremony of Charles III.
During the visit, Zelenskaya met with British Prime Minister Akshata Murthy’s wife. British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak also joined the meeting. Zelenska thanked Britain for supporting Ukraine, in particular, for organizing Eurovision together with Ukrainian partners.
“The impossibility of holding this competition by the winning country should be another reminder to the world of Russia’s war of conquest against Ukraine,” said the president’s wife.
Zelenska also mentioned another important event – the Conference on the Reconstruction of Ukraine, which will be held in June this year in London.
The First Lady conveyed to Akshati Murthy an invitation to the Third Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, which will be held on September 6 in Kyiv and will be devoted to the topic of mental health.
“Every year, the summit strengthens the role of first ladies and gentlemen: together we become more active to change the world for the better. This is the way Ukraine works today,” said Zelenskaya.
After the meeting, the First Lady of Ukraine and Akshata Murthy visited the British Library, which is one of the largest libraries in the world with 1.5 million visits per year. The ever-growing collection contains more than 170 million copies, 100,000 of which are a collection of Ukrainian rare publications, presses, and documents.
King Charles III’s official coronation ceremony will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. The service will start at 11:00 UK time (13:00 Kyiv time) and will last about three hours.
It was previously reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin was not invited to Charles III’s coronation.
