Russia has an extensive list of requirements to extend the grain deal, starting with reconnecting Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system.
Grain corridor activity may be terminated if positive results are not achieved in talks in Istanbul this week. This was said by the spokesman of the President of Turkey, Ibrahim Kalin, reports CNN Turk on Wednesday, May 3.
“If the meeting does not bring a positive result, the shipment of grain may stop on May 18,” said Kalin.
It was noted that in the absence of a positive decision on the grain deal, serious problems may arise in the world’s food supplies.
Earlier on Wednesday, it was learned that negotiations on a grain deal will be held on May 5. But Moscow said that this issue has not yet been agreed upon.
As you know, in March, Ukraine announced the extension of the grain initiative for 120 days, and Russia – for 60. According to Moscow, the agreement will expire on May 18.
Russia has an extensive list of requirements: reconnection of Rosselkhozbank to the SWIFT system, resumption of supplies of agricultural machinery, spare parts and services, removal of restrictions on insurance and reinsurance, withdrawal of banning access to ports, resuming operation of the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline, unblocking foreign assets and accounts related to the production and transportation of food and fertilizers.
