What do Friedman and the Russian army have in common? This was found out by “Schemes” in the investigation “Insured”.
It turned out that the Russian business of the oligarch is closely connected with the military and security forces of the Russian Federation participating in the war against Ukraine, as well as with a large sub-sanctioned enterprise that provides the Russian military with uniforms and food.
Fridman is a sanctioned oligarch, but he still has businesses in various areas, both in Russia and Ukraine. In Ukraine, he is known about the activities of his business – Alfa-Bank (now Sens-Bank), Kyivstar, Morshynska.
In Russia, Fridman is well known for his activities, for example, the AlfaStrakhovanie company. He owns it together with business partners through the Alfa Group group of companies.
One of the areas of work of this insurance company is the insurance of official vehicles of the Russian security forces and military. This cooperation brings government contracts worth hundreds of millions of rubles.
“Schemes” discovered that Alfa Insurance also insured military vehicles that participated in the aggression against Ukraine.
In addition, AlfaStrakhovanie’s protection also applies to service vehicles of military personnel responsible, in particular, for the personal security of Russian President Putin.
Fridman was one of the first Russian oligarchs to be included in the EU sanctions list at the end of February 2022.
The justification said: Friedman has strong ties to the Putin administration, built a business by being close to power. Friedman does not agree with this and is trying in every possible way to protest the imposition of sanctions.
