A man shot and killed three people in the Portuguese city of Setubal on Sunday, April 30. The attacker then killed himself. The cause of the incident was a fight with pigeons. This was reported by the local publication Publico.
The tragedy happened around 8 in the morning in one of the city’s districts. The alleged killer, after committing the crime, committed suicide only when the police arrived at the scene.
The reason for this incident lies in a long-standing disagreement related to the breeding of pigeons and the distribution of land in a field located next to the residential cluster of Bairro Azul.
In this area, the three victims and their likely killer – all pigeon fanciers – had long had vegetable gardens there without permission, in addition to raising birds in dovecotes built there.
The victims, like the suspect, are over 50 years old. They are all local residents.
Police at the scene of the tragedy found “three dead bodies and one person who committed suicide.”
The case was referred to the judicial police.
