The American soldier who died was a former United States Marine and was left-handed.
26-year-old American volunteer Cooper “Harris” Andrews was killed in the fighting with Russian invaders in the city of Bakhmut, Donetsk region. It was reported on Sunday, April 30, by journalist and documentarian Jake Hanrahan at Twitter.
He noted that the dead soldier was a former US Marine, and also explored the topic of military conflicts.
“He was a member of the Foreign Legion, and later the Resistance Committee. He was ambushed by Russian troops when he was protecting the evacuees,” the American wrote.
The journalist added that the relatives did not know that Andrews was in the hottest spot at the front.
“He was cheerful, not too serious, but deeply committed to what he believed in. We didn’t know he was there and were shocked by the news. We all express our condolences to his family and friends,” Hanrahan said.
Recall that a Polish volunteer who died in the battles for Bakhmut was recently buried.
Earlier, a French volunteer died in the fighting near Bakhmut.
