US President Joseph Biden called on Moscow to release the American reporter for The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), Evan Gershkovich, who was arrested in Russia. The WSJ reported this on Sunday, April 30.
“Journalism is not a crime. Evan must be released immediately, like all other Americans who have been held hostage or unjustly imprisoned abroad,” emphasized the American leader.
According to him, Gershkovich went to Russia to create a report that could “shed light into the darkness.”
“We are working every day to achieve his removal, we are looking for opportunities and tools to bring him home,” assured the American president.
It will be recalled that on March 30 in Russia, security forces detained a US citizen, a journalist for The Wall Street Journal, Evan Gershkovich. The FSB accused him of “spying on a Russian military-industrial complex enterprise.”
It was then learned that the court took the journalist into custody until May 29.
