The allies are united as always and will support the Ukrainians as long as necessary, the head of the Pentagon assured.
Members of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format provided more than $55 billion in aid to Kyiv. Said data was announced by US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who opened the 11th meeting at the Ramstein Air Base in Germany on Friday, April 21.
“In total, the members of this Contact Group have provided more than $55 billion in security assistance to Ukraine. This is a tenfold increase since we first met,” Austin said.
He recalled that earlier this week, the United States announced a new $325 million security assistance package to Ukraine.
“Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, we have provided more than $35 billion in security assistance to Ukraine,” Austin added.
The Pentagon chief emphasized that after more than a year, Ukraine is still strong, the support of partners is unwavering, and he is proud of the progress made.
According to him, after more than a year since the start of the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, “the Contact Group is more united than ever and more global than ever.”
“Together we will defend the rules-based international order that ensures our security. And together we will support Ukraine as necessary,” the US Secretary of Defense summed up.
Earlier, Defense Minister Alexei Reznikov announced the themes of the Ramstein anniversary. According to him, this will be a strategy for the whole of 2023.
Recall that President Volodymyr Zelensky said he expected Rammstein to make “big decisions that meet prospects on the battlefield.”
