The incident has already been confirmed by the Russian Defense Ministry, calling it “an abnormal gathering of aviation ammunition.”
On April 20, during the flight of the Su-34 VKS aircraft over the city of Belgorod, an emergency meeting of aviation munitions took place. As a result, there is damage to residential buildings, there are no casualties. An investigation is underway, the agency said in a statement.
The Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov said in his Telegram channel that as a result of the incident, a huge funnel with a radius of 20 m was formed at the intersection of one of the central streets of the city.
There is damage to the glazing in a neighboring apartment building, the blast damaged several parked cars and knocked down power lines, he said.
Social networks report that eyewitnesses of the incident heard a rumble, then a whistle and the sound of a fall, after which a funnel formed. It is alleged that there was no characteristic sound of the explosion – the sound was very muffled and a powerful shock wave.
In one of the photographs taken by eyewitnesses, you can see that one of the cars was thrown onto the roof of a local store by a shock wave.
According to one version, the bomb “buried” in the ground under the asphalt, after which it detonated.
