Wagner supplies rockets to the Sudanese Rapid Reaction Force to help fight the country’s army.
Russian PMC Wagner supplies Sudan’s Rapid Reaction Force (RSF) with missiles. This was reported on Thursday, April 20, by CNN, citing its own sources.
It was noted that satellite images show the activity of IL-76 aircraft between the bases of the Wagner group on the Libyan border, where the territory is controlled by the pro-Russian Libyan General Khalif Haftar.
The publication’s sources note that Haftar supports the RSF, although he does not take sides. The material says that activity at the air bases began on April 13 and continued until at least April 19.
“According to regional and Sudanese sources, that day Russia moved surface-to-air missiles to Dagalo (RSF leader) militia positions in northwestern Sudan,” CNN wrote.
The publication also previously exposed deep ties between Moscow and Sudan’s military leadership, which gave Russia access to the East African country’s gold wealth in exchange for military and political support. Relations began in earnest after Moscow’s invasion of Crimea in 2014, when Russia began to look to Africa’s gold wealth as a way to avoid multiple Western sanctions.
It will be recalled that on April 15, clashes broke out in Sudan between the Rapid Reaction Forces (RSF) and the country’s regular army.
