Ljubljana will participate in the joint procurement of ammunition under the EDA project, which already involves 23 EU member states and Norway.
The Slovenian authorities decided to join the project for the joint purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. On Thursday, April 20, 24UR reported.
It was noted that the decision was made at a meeting of EU defense and foreign ministers as part of a plan to supply one million artillery shells over the next 12 months to Ukraine.
The Slovenian Ministry of Defense said the agreement sets a framework for the participation of member states in the project and contains provisions on objectives, management, finance, supervision, contracting and responsibilities. It also provides protection of classified information, addition of new members, and final clauses on duration, modification, termination, or withdrawal from the project.
“The signing of the project agreement will not create any financial obligations for the Republic of Slovenia, as it only establishes a framework for further cooperation,” the agency insisted.
Thus, Slovenia will join the EDA project for the joint procurement of ammunition, in which 23 EU Member States and Norway have joined so far.
It was previously reported that EU member states approved the decision to provide Ukraine with 1 million shells over the next 12 months.
It was also reported that the EU may allocate 500 million euros for the production of shells for Ukraine.
