Trains from the Brightline Railroad will begin running between Miami and Orlando in August, the company said Thursday, announcing a new station located in the city of Orlando.
A 235-mile (378 km) rail axle will connect the center Miami with the international airport Orlandowith stops in Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach.
Tickets
As announced this Thursday, tickets will go on sale next May, with one-way tickets for Smart service starting at $79 and premium seats starting at $149.
The company said it also plans to offer ticket packages that will cost less than $199 for a family of four.
Services
“Today’s milestone is the latest piece of transformative infrastructure already completed as we prepare to begin the service we’ve been building for a decade,” said Mike Reininger, CEO of Brightline, introducing the new station.
Mayor of Orlando Buddy Dyerstated that the station represents more than a new rail link, “it’s an important link for our community with jobs and opportunities.”
The company positions itself as “America’s only provider of modern, sustainable high-speed rail services.”
Currently serving Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach in South Florida.
Characteristics
In August 2022 bright line received a $25 million federal grant to improve safety and reduce the number of fatal accidents that often occur on its network.
The station unveiled this Thursday, dominated by Brightline’s corporate yellow, is 37,350 square feet (3,469 square meters) and is located adjacent to Orlando International Airport (MCO), the company said in a statement.
The train station connects directly to the airport’s Parking Lot C, which will provide over 350 parking spaces for Brightline passengers.
Brightline wants to provide services to parts of cities that are “too close to fly and too far to drive” and has “immediate plans” to connect Las Vegas, Nevada, to Southern California. (EFE)
