The Prosecutor General called on the international community to help Ukraine with intelligence information.
Today, in Ukraine, the Office of the Prosecutor General has registered thousands of potential war crimes that the Russians may have committed in Ukraine during the conflict and in the occupied territories. This was announced on Wednesday, April 19, by Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin, reports CNN.
He pointed out that his office has filed 80,000 cases of potential war crimes. And so far, 31 enemy soldiers have been convicted.
According to him, 310 war crime suspects have been identified and the cases against 152 potential perpetrators have been completed.
He also noted that many cases are conducted in absentia.
“We have identified the culprits, we have the full range of evidence, but we can’t wait to catch them, but the procedure for hearing cases in absentia is a bit longer due to procedural restrictions,” said Cost.
The Prosecutor General has called on the international community to help Ukraine with intelligence information, as the Office of the Prosecutor General has identified thousands more alleged war criminals, but requires the necessary set of evidence.
The US Congress expanded the Justice Department’s powers to prosecute alleged war criminals found in the United States. This means that for years and decades to come, Russian war criminals who set foot on US soil must face US courts.
Earlier it was reported that an agreement with the office of the International Criminal Court in Kyiv was signed in The Hague.
