Russian troops are gathering forces in some areas of the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions, which may be due to preparations for the start of an offensive in the southern direction. This was announced on Saturday, May 21, by the American Institute for the Study of War (ISW).
Analysts believe this indicates enemy plans to capture the rest of the northern region of Kherson and advance towards Zaporozhye.
“A high concentration of Russian troops was recorded in Inzhenerny, south of Gulyaipol, which may indicate that Russian troops are potentially preparing to continue the offensive in the direction of Gulyaipol,” the Institute’s analysis said.
The ISW also wrote that the fact that banners for the 220th anniversary of the creation of the province of Taurida appeared in occupied Melitopol may indicate the intention of the Russians to make the occupied territories in the regions of Kherson and Zaporozhye as such. -called “LDNR”.
Earlier, Aleksey Arestovich, adviser to the head of the Presidential Administration, said that the most difficult situation on the front was in the direction of Bakhmut, where the army of the Russian Federation has actively deployed additional forces over the past two days.
