Stockholm today ordered the first batch of these machines, consisting of 20 units, from the Finnish company Patria.
The Swedish Ministry of Defense has signed an agreement with the Finnish military-industrial complex Patria to develop a new generation of armored personnel carriers. In addition to Sweden, Finland, Germany and Latvia participated in it. This was reported by the company’s press service on Monday, April 17.
Signing a framework agreement is a condition for ordering new equipment. These armored personnel carriers are already in the armies of Finland and Latvia. Germany will receive them soon.
The Swedish side has ordered the first batch of 20 armored personnel carriers, the delivery of the first vehicles is expected in May. The cost of one unit is about 11 million crowns ($1.2 million). It should be the “backbone” of the Swedish army.
“This is a fourth-generation Patria vehicle with a slightly simpler chassis, but with good subsystems from the earlier, more advanced version of the 360 armored off-road vehicle. It will be a reliable vehicle , easy to drive and low maintenance costs,” said project leader from the Ministry of Defense Håkan Larsson.
In Sweden, the car will be called the Pansarterr ngbil 300. It can accommodate ten people. All of them will be protected by armor from fragments and enemy fire. A shooter can fire.
The machine is modular, so it can be converted, for example, for medical transport. He is also able to overcome water obstacles. The car can reach speeds of up to 100 km/h.
It will be recalled that the military exercises Aurora-23 will be held in Sweden in April and May, which will be the largest national maneuver in more than 25 years.
