The military is fighting according to a pre-developed plan and holding all their positions, an army spokesman said.
The Sudanese army has begun the final phase of the operation against the Rapid Reaction Forces, with clashes continuing for a third straight day. This was reported on April 17 by Al Hadath TV channel.
“The (Sudanese) army has begun the final phase of the operation, to pursue detachments of rapid reaction forces,” an army spokesman said.
According to him, “members of the special forces are running in all directions.” The military also emphasized that “the army is fighting according to a previously developed plan and holding all its positions.”
He expressed regret that the special forces “seek to fight near residential areas near populated areas, without considering the safety of civilians.”
It will be recalled that the situation in Sudan escalated due to disagreements between the commander of the Sudanese army, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who is actually the president of the country, and the head of the Rapid Reaction Forces, Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo (Hamidti).
They did not agree with the proposed transition to civilian administration. The main controversial points are the plan to integrate the Rapid Reaction Forces (about 100 thousand people) into the regular army and who will lead it after that.
On April 15, clashes began between two structures near the military base in the city of Merov and in Khartoum.
It was earlier reported that as a result of fighting between the military and security forces in Sudan, around 100 people were killed.
