Moscow will study the possibility of replacing Viktor Medvedchuk for the fighters of the Azov battalion, Leonid Slutsky said.
Russian authorities aim to study the possibility of exchanging politician Viktor Medvedchuk, detained by Ukraine’s Security Service, for Azovstal’s defenders. This was stated by a member of the negotiation process, chairman of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs and head of the LDPR faction Leonid Slutsky on Saturday, May 21, at a press conference in Donetsk, reports Interfax-Ukraine.
“We will study the possibility of replacing Medvedchuk for the Azov people. We are not the Liberal Democratic Party, but the people in Moscow who have such power,” Slutsky said.
Earlier today, the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky spoke about the fate of the defenders of Mariupol. The Ukrainian military from the territory of the Azovstal plant must be liberated under the exchange scheme.
The other day, the Russian Federation announced that the last Ukrainian military group had left Azovstal. In total, 2,439 people left the plant, according to their data. Ukraine has not disclosed any data.
