“This act tragically claimed the lives of four people and injured many more,” Sergeant Jeremy Burkett, a spokesman for the Alabama law enforcement agency, confirmed to reporters.

“This drama is something no city should know about,” Dadeville Police Chief Jonathan Floyd said.
Television network WRBL reported heavy police activity and blackout tapes around the building from the crime scene, as well as white sheets covering parts of the floor on Sunday morning.
According to eyewitnesses, several people were injured, mostly teenagers, and were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
WRBL also said that during a preliminary investigation, experts from the sheriff’s office estimated that the altercation led to the shooting at the teen’s “Sweet 16” birthday party around 10:30 p.m. Saturday (03:30 GMT Sunday).
Phil Dowdell, the brother of the teenager celebrating his birthday, was among those killed, his grandmother Annette Allen reported in the local newspaper Montgomery Advertiser. The young man was in his last year of high school and should graduate in a few weeks.
“Everyone is grieving,” Allen said of the small community of about 3,000 residents, noting that Dowdell’s mother was also injured.

“There is no place for violent crime in our state,” the governor responded AlabamaKay Ivey, expressing his “pain” on his Twitter account.
The United States, with a population of about 330 million, is full of guns (about 400 million different types of weapons are distributed) and mass shootings with fatal outcomes are common.
Authorities confirmed Saturday night that two people were killed and four injured in a shooting in Louisville, Kentucky, the same city where a gunman killed five people at a bank last Monday.
In late March, a man opened fire at a private elementary school in Nashville, Tennessee, killing three 9-year-old boys and three employees before being shot dead by police.
This weekend’s shooting in Alabama and Kentucky, illustrating the hellish cycle of shootings that America has fallen into, comes exactly 16 years after the Virginia Tech massacre.
