Instead of MiG-29 fighters, Poland provided Ukraine with a large supply of spare parts and weapons for these machines. It is assumed that thanks to this, the Ukrainian Air Force will be able to quickly restore the combat capability of its aircraft. This was reported by the Polish edition of Onet.
The publication states that despite the relatively successful confrontation between Ukraine and Russian aviation, few resources will not be enough to fight the senior forces of the Russian Air Force in the long run. Therefore, almost since the beginning of the war, Kyiv has been asking for support from Western partners, including the supply of fighter jets.
It was assumed that Soviet MiG-29 fighters, which were in service with the Polish, Slovak and Bulgarian armies, would be delivered to Ukraine, but this did not happen.
However, according to Onet, Poland provided almost all the spare parts and ammunition for the MiG-29 to the Ukrainian side.
“Thanks to this, they can restore the fighting ability of existing fighters,” the newspaper notes.
