Summer is the start of the party and festival season in Europe, which can help spread the new disease.
Due to mass festivals and summer parties in European countries, increasing the incidence of monkeypox is possible in the summer, warns the European Bureau of the World Health Organization.

It is noted that monkeypox is usually not easily spread. The virus enters through damaged skin, respiratory tract, eyes, nose and mouth, as well as through body fluids. The main mode of spread is close physical contact, including sexual intercourse.
“As we enter the summer season in the European Region with mass gatherings, festivals and parties, I am concerned that transmission may be accelerated because the cases currently identified are among the sexually active and the symptoms are not familiar to many, ” – said the head of the WHO European Office Hans Kluge.
He noted that hand and respiratory hygiene, as well as personal protective equipment and isolation of contaminants, are critical to reduce transmission.
So far, monkeypox cases have been reported in the United States, Canada, Australia, Spain, Portugal, Great Britain, France, Italy, Sweden, and Australia.
