Putin cancels Victory parades in Russian regions due to lack of tanks
This is written by experts from the American analytical center Atlantic Council. According to them, there will be no parades on May 9 in the Kursk and Belgorod regions, as well as in the Crimea. The official reason is security concerns, since these regions border Ukraine. But, according to the Atlantic Council, in fact, due to losses at the front, Russia may simply lack military equipment, which the authorities do not want to admit.
“During his time in office, Putin has celebrated May 9 as a quasi-religious holiday designed to bolster Russian pride. The cult of victory over Nazi Germany sets the tone for Russian politics, and opponents of the Putin regime at home and abroad are regularly attacked as “Nazis” and “fascists,” writes BILD columnist Philip Fabian.
According to him, whatever the reason for the cancellation of parades in a number of regions, it will be very difficult for Putin to give a speech on May 9 in Moscow against the backdrop of failures in Ukraine. “Throughout the Putin era, Victory Day served as a demonstration of Russia’s new strength. But this holiday could become a symbol of the growing weakness of his regime, ”said analysts at the Atlantic Council.
