The United States believes it will take Russia up to ten years to restore all units, notes The Washington Post.
Separate brigades of special forces of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Federation lost up to 95% of their personnel during the war against Ukraine. Now it will take up to 10 years to replenish them. This was reported on Thursday, April 14, by The Washington Post, citing Pentagon data leaked on the Internet.
The Russian command relied heavily on special forces and used them as part of infantry formations, which suffered heavy losses, the media report notes.
At the beginning of the great war, Russia had doubts about the combat ability of its subjects, so it ordered elite fighters to engage in direct combat. As a result, three of the five brigades lost 90-95% of their men. Special forces soldiers need at least four years of special training.
Washington believes that Moscow will need up to ten years to restore all units and note that the loss of Russian GUR special forces will make them less effective not only in the war against Ukraine, but also in other parts of the world.
The “leaked” documents do not say how many special forces soldiers were killed or wounded in Ukraine. One of the intercepts indicated that one unit lost almost the entire brigade, which included 125 men out of 900 deployed.
Remember, according to the Oryx research report, since the beginning of the war, Russia has lost at least 10 thousand units of military equipment.
Earlier, soldiers of the 73rd Marine Center of the Special Operations Forces released a video with footage of the destruction of an enemy tank with invaders.
