The water level will rise in the rivers Dnieper, Syan, Pripyat and Dniester basin, flooding is predicted in settlements and on the roads of some regions.
The State Emergency Service has warned of a further rise in water levels in rivers in the north and west of Ukraine and, accordingly, of possible new flooding of settlements.
It is reported that on April 14-17 in the Upper Dnieper, the water level will rise by 0.1-0.3 m per day, followed by flooding of the floodplain, disruption of transport communications, flooding and cutting off from the main communications, partial flooding of individual settlements and possible initial flooding of residential buildings with Dnieper and Sozh water in riverside villages in Chernihiv district of Chernihiv region (hazard level III – red).
On April 15-18, in the rivers of the Pripyat basin, water levels are expected to continue to rise by another 0.1-0.5 m, followed by flooding of floodplains. The level of flooding of farmland and buildings in the riverside settlements of Kovelsky and Kamen-Kashyrsky districts of the Volyn region will remain, it is possible to reach the level of flooding of fields and buildings in the district of Lutsk of the Volyn region and the Sarnensky District of the Rivne region.
In addition, due to the predicted rain on April 15 – 17 in the rivers of the Syan and Dniester basins (Lviv and Ivano-Frankivsk regions), water levels are expected to rise by 0.2 – 1.2 m above of current levels, without negative consequences.
On April 14-17, due to significant water discharges during the passage of spring floods through the reservoirs of the Dnieper cascade, the floodplain territories will continue to be flooded and the river territories will be partially flooded in the river settlements in the reservoirs of Kremenchug, Kamensky, Dnieper in the regions of Cherkassy, Poltava, Kirovograd and Dnepropetrovsk (III level of danger – red). Possible initial flooding of flood areas along the Kakhovka reservoir in river settlements in the Zaporozhye region (hazard level II – orange).
On April 14-17, as a result of the passage of spring floods through the Kiev hydroelectric power station, on the Dnieper in Kiev, Vyshgorodsky, Brovarsky and Boryspilsky districts of the Kiev region, the flood territories will continue to be flooded and partial flooding of low-lying areas of garden and summer cottage development, household plots of river settlements (II level of danger – orange).
