A man, at the request of a friend, tried to get a Stradivarius violin dated 1742 from Ukraine.

The border guards of the Odessa region prevented the illegal export of a Stradivarius violin dated 1742. This was announced on April 14 by the press center of the State Border Service.

The violin, which probably has cultural and historical value, was found at the Orlovka ferry checkpoint.

It is known that the 40-year-old driver of a Mercedes minibus delivered it along with other things to Bulgaria, according to him, at the request of a friend.

The musical instrument is marked Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis Faciebat Anno 1742.

The violin was taken for examination. The border guards reported the smuggling to the Security Service of Ukraine and the National Police.

It will be recalled that in 2020, a Bulgarian citizen tried to get a Stradivarius violin dated 1687 from Ukraine.
