The new package of sanctions is ready, and it is mainly aimed at combating attempts to circumvent the strict measures.
The European Union is preparing the 11th package of sanctions against Russia, which will strengthen control over compliance with previous sanctions. This was stated by the European Commissioner for Financial Services, Financial Stability and Capital Markets Mairead McGuinness in an interview with CNBC.
“Europe has introduced 10 sanctions packages. There will be one more,” McGuinness said.
According to him, the 11th sanctions package is ready, and it is mainly aimed at combating attempts to circumvent restrictive measures.
“We have to make sure that they (Russia – ed.) will not have the opportunity to evade our sanctions,” added the European Commissioner.
McGuinness said the sanctions would affect individuals and entities from other countries that help Russia evade sanctions.
Fighting sanctions evasion has become a priority for the EU after a 10-pack of sanctions against Russia and an asset freeze on more than 1,500 people and organizations.
