Kuleba acknowledged that it would not be a quick process, as the UN Security Council would need to be completely reset, but expressed confidence that it would happen.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba said that Ukraine will continue the issue of Russia’s exclusion from the UN Security Council, and it will happen. He said this on Thursday, April 14, on the air of the telethon.
“It is not a quick process, because you have to completely reset the UN Security Council to exclude Russia from it. But it will happen. The main thing is to be patient and do what we are doing. And in the month this, that Russia Chairs the UN Security Council we are doing our best to bring this goal closer,” said Kuleba.
He also noted that Ukraine became the first state to raise the issue of the illegitimacy of Russia’s membership in the UN Security Council, although this issue has been relevant for more than a year.
It will be remembered that on April 1, a month-long period began, during which Russia, which is also a permanent member of this body, will lead the UN Security Council. In total, the UN Security Council includes 15 countries, of which five are permanent (Russia, China, USA, Great Britain and France).
Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that if Russia still heads the UN Security Council, it should be pushed into a corner with the help of methods and not allowed to promote false narratives about the war against Ukraine.
And on April 14, it became known that the United States did not issue a visa to the Russian delegation that heads the UN Security Council.
