Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal held talks with Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin.
During a conversation with the American minister, he called for the start of deliveries of Western F-16 fighters. In response, Austin did not comment on specific requests, but promised that the United States would expand arms production for Ukraine through investments in the defense industry. This was reported by CNN, citing officials’ statements made after the meeting.
We are winning this war. But in order to achieve this faster and with fewer losses, Ukraine still needs intensive military support, Shmyhal said.
The head of the Pentagon thanked Ukraine for its responsibility in the issue of military assistance, which the Americans have already transferred.
Meanwhile, Shmihal on Telegram said that during the meeting with the head of the Pentagon, they discussed in detail the urgent needs of Ukraine to successfully launch another counter-offensive to de-occupy Ukrainian territories.
The head of the Cabinet of Ministers stressed that Ukraine needs more air defense systems, heavy artillery and equipment, mortars and ammunition for an early victory.
Recall, Reuters reported that South Korea will lend the United States of America 500 thousand shells for 155-mm artillery pieces and this will allow Washington to be more flexible in supplying ammunition to Ukraine.
