Ukraine sent at least two large lists of weapons to Brazil.
The list includes armored vehicles, aircraft, air defense systems, mortar shells, ammunition, small arms, etc. Kyiv wanted to get or buy these weapons. However, the Brazilian authorities ignored this request and refused to supply weapons to Ukraine. This was reported by The New York Times.
It is noted that Germany had previously sent a similar request to Brazil. At one time, Brazil bought the German Gepard anti-aircraft guns, and Germany wanted to buy shells for them from Brazil. The Brazilian authorities refused to sell ammunition, as they learned that they would end up in Ukraine.
The NYT also writes that Pentagon secret data leaked to the network indicates that the United States of America, along with other allies, are trying to find weapons in those countries that have so far refused to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine. However, they are denied this. In particular, Colombian President Gustavo Petr said that he had repeatedly rejected Washington’s requests for the purchase of Russian and Soviet-made weapons in order to transfer them to Ukraine.
The article notes that Brazil could become a valuable supplier of weapons, since it is one of the largest manufacturers of combat aircraft, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are now in dire need.
Recall that in April, Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva suggested that Ukraine abandon the occupied Crimea, because abandoning the peninsula allegedly could help end a full-scale war with the Russian Federation.
