Exactly a year ago, the Ukrainian military hit the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation, the missile cruiser Moskva, with a Neptune missile strike, which sank in a day.
The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov reminded about this today, on April 13, on his Facebook page.
Remember the mood of summer ago. The event was so inspiring, and at the same time incredible, that it seemed to many that this could not be true. After all, the last time Russia lost its flagship was more than a century ago,” Reznikov notes.
According to the minister, the destruction of the Moskva set off a “chain reaction” and put an end to the dominance of the Russian fleet in the Black Sea:
- the successful use of Ukrainian missiles at such a distance convinced the partners that there was no point in delaying the transfer of Harpoon anti-ship missiles;
- as soon as the Harpoon missiles were received, the team of Vice Admiral Alexei Neizhpapa successfully used them as well. As a result, this led to the flight of the Russian occupiers from the Serpent’s Island, which they called “a gesture of good will”;
- the dismissal of Zmeiny made it possible to open a “grain corridor”. The world received Ukrainian products – Ukraine received resources for defense;
- as a result, the Russian fleet is forced to hide to the south and east of the Crimea. The Kremlin’s dreams of a landing in Odessa are a thing of the past.
The main conclusion from this story is our country and it is up to us to decide how to defend it. Even if someone still cares about the “face of the Kremlin,” Reznikov stressed. — It has been proven in combat conditions that “made in Ukraine” weapons are able to cope with complex tasks and protect at the level with the best developments of partners. The development of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex is a priority, because it is an element of our independence.
According to the minister, after the victory of Ukraine, the sunken Moskva will become one of the most popular locations for divers.
And tourists from all over the world will be raising glasses of fantastic Crimean wine in Ukrainian Crimea to a good toast – “for the Russian navy – to the bottom!”, he summed up.
On April 13, 2022, the Ukrainian Navy attacked the Moskva cruiser with two R-360 Neptune cruise anti-ship missiles. As a result of the damage and difficult weather conditions, the cruiser capsized and sank. On April 14, the Russian authorities acknowledged the loss of “Moscow”.
