The World Bank is allocating an additional $200 million to Ukraine for energy recovery. Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmihal signed an agreement in Washington with the Vice President of the World Bank, Anna Bjerde. He announced this on Telegram.
According to Shmyhal, the funds raised from the World Bank will be used to restore the power grid and heat supply systems in Kyiv, Kharkiv, Nikolaev, Sumy and the cities of Chernihiv region.
At a meeting with a representative of the World Bank, the Prime Minister of Ukraine discussed joint work within the framework of the interagency donor coordination platform (financial ramstein).
“Together with the World Bank, we are also preparing for the implementation of a project to insure war risks for foreign investment. This is an important tool to attract these investments now, without waiting for the end of the war, Shmyhal said.
He thanked the World Bank’s partners for supporting Ukraine and the recovery program, which will be the largest recovery project in Europe since World War II.
It will be recalled that in February the World Bank announced additional grant funding for Ukraine in the amount of $2.5 billion.
It was previously reported that the World Bank will allocate $50 million to repair roads and bridges in Ukraine.
