During the meeting, the parties discussed the further direction of US aid and the role of Congress in this process.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky on Wednesday, April 12, met with a bipartisan delegation of the US Senate, consisting of Joseph Manchin, Lisa Murkowski and Mark Kelly. This was reported on the website of the head of state.
Zelensky explained to the delegation the situation on the front line and shared his assessment of the prospects for its development.
The parties also discussed additional components of US aid and the role of Congress in this process.
The President thanked the senators for their visit to Ukraine.
“We are fighting for common values - freedom and democracy. Our victory will be decisive for the development of the situation in Europe and around the world. The continuation of such comprehensive support – defense and finance – is the key to our victory over the aggressor,” he said.
Zelensky emphasized that bicameral and bipartisan support from the United States, President Biden personally, and all Americans helped Ukraine survive the war unleashed by Russia.
Earlier, the president met with philanthropist and businessman Howard Buffett, son of billionaire Warren Buffett and head of one of his charitable foundations, and discussed with him aid to Ukraine.
And before that, Zelensky held a meeting with British billionaire Richard Branson.
