The greatest pressure on the state in this regard is exerted from within Ukrainian society.
A large-scale counter-offensive by the Ukrainian Defense Forces against the occupying Russian army may begin in the summer of 2023. This was announced on Tuesday, April 11, by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal in an interview with The Hill.
According to him, Ukraine’s allies and partners do not put pressure on Kyiv on the offensive, but the strongest pressure is felt from within the country.
“All our friends and partners are well aware that to continue the counteroffensive, you need to be 100% ready for it, if not more,” the head of government insisted.
When asked how preparations for the counteroffensive would be affected by the leak of secret Pentagon documents, Shmygal replied that Ukraine would liberate its territory.
“We have repeatedly proven that we can do it. We are asking our international partners for additional military capabilities, such as tanks, ammunition, aircraft, armored vehicles,” he summed up.
The publication writes that Shmygal’s mission to Washington is part of the Ukrainian military strategy: while military preparations are underway, the prime minister is ordered to rally partner countries to provide economic support, which is important for Ukraine’s safety as its military defense. He will participate in the spring meeting of the International Monetary and Financial Committee and the Joint Development Committee of the IMF and the World Bank.
Earlier, the American edition of the New York Times reported that allegedly classified documents appeared on social networks with details of the plans of the United States and NATO to strengthen the Armed Forces of Ukraine ahead of the planned counteroffensive. According to the publication, the Pentagon is allegedly investigating who may be behind the “leakage” of the documents. Soon after, the United States announced a new leak of a batch of secret documents describing US national security principles. The documents relate to the war in Ukraine, China and the Middle East.
On the eve of the Pentagon admitted the “leakage of documents.” The White House noted that the authenticity of the documents had been checked, now knowing that some were forged.
