Russian judges will be responsible for signing resolutions on the acceptance of the so-called “L/DPR”, as well as the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions, into the Russian Federation.
The SBU completed a special pre-trial investigation against 10 judges of the Constitutional Court of Russia. The indictment was sent to the court, according to the website of special services on Tuesday, April 11.
According to the investigation, on October 2, 2022, Russian judges signed resolutions on the acceptance of the so-called “DNR”, “LNR”, as well as the occupied parts of Kherson and Zaporozhye regions into Russian Federation. Thus, they recognized as “legitimate” the Kremlin’s agreements on the “accession” to Russia of the temporarily occupied regions of Ukraine.
At that time, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation consisted of 10 acting judges, including its head. All these people will now be responsible for the criminal decision.
On the basis of the collected evidence, the investigators informed the Russian judges of suspicion under the article about conspiracy to encroach on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine (part 5 of article 27, part 3 of article 110 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). They face up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment with confiscation of assets.
Recall that in March the court passed a sentence for 20 deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation. They all received 15 years in prison. The beginning of the term for serving the sentences for the convicted deputies is from the day of their actual imprisonment.
Also on the eve of the SBU submitted to the court materials related to another 56 deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation.
