Cyclist Konstantin Deneka died near Bakhmut

During a combat mission near Bakhmut, the famous Ukrainian cyclist Konstantin Deneka died.

Ukrainian cyclist Konstantin Deneka died in the battle for Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Youth and Sports on Facebook.

Deneka served in one of the special forces of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The athlete died on March 31 near Bakhmut as a result of a shrapnel wound. He is 40 years old.

Deneka is a member of the Leader Citroen Team, where she won dozens of all-Ukrainian cycling competitions.

“Even during short layoffs, the fighter did not abandon his beloved and attended two-wheeled competitions. In September, Kostya went to Bucha to support the participants in a bicycle ride on the occasion of City Day,” the report said.

It was earlier reported that the four-time world champion in kickboxing, a member of the executive committee of the Ivano-Frankivsk City Council, Vitaly Merinov, died in hospital after being injured in the fight.
