During the maneuvers, several simulated strikes were conducted against key targets on the island and in the waters adjacent to it.
China’s military has staged strikes against key targets in Taiwan as part of exercises around the island. This was announced on April 10 by the Chinese Ministry of Defense.
It was noted that during the maneuvers over the weekend, “a number of simulated strikes were carried out against key objects on the island of Taiwan and in the waters adjacent to it.”
In addition to simulating precision attacks, Chinese forces continue to surround the island to maintain a “deterrence and suppression situation.”
The exercise includes Ground Forces missile batteries, Navy warships, ground-based anti-ship systems, Air Force fighters, reconnaissance and early warning aircraft, as well as troops operating missile systems.
China’s People’s Liberation Army’s Eastern Theater Command released a computer animation depicting a simulated attack.
As noted by observers, the Chinese military for the first time referred to the targets in Taiwan and in the island’s waters as “training.”

To recall, Beijing announced the three-day exercise immediately after Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen’s transit trip through the United States, where she met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Kevin McCarthy.
