Earlier, local residents of Kyiv region decided to transfer the church to OCU, but UOC-MP priests refused to hand over the keys.
In the village of Lipovets in the Kyiv region, during the crush near the UOC-MP temple, a man died, according to the publication Kagarlyk.City.
According to the media, local parishioners want to expel the priests of the Moscow Patriarchate from the church. Earlier, local residents decided to transfer the church to the subordination of OCU. On Saturday, April 8, parishioners came to the temple and demanded that the UOC priest give them the keys.
When the pop MP refused to do so, people tried to enter the temple. However, UOC-MP representatives prevented this from happening. Because of this, the crush started.
According to media reports, a local resident was near the church. He suddenly fell ill. Unfortunately, the man died.
Police confirmed the death of a local resident near the temple.
“The deceased is a man born in 1961. This is not an official, but one of those who were near the temple on the side of the OCU. The cause of death is a heart attack, he has been operated on twice,” said Irina Pryanishnikova, a representative of the Kiev regional police.
The UOC-MP stated that the rector of the temple, Archpriest Vasily, wrote a statement to law enforcement agencies about the death of a man and said that several men threw him to the ground, pulled him in chains where the Orthodox cross hangs; requested that he no longer hold services and live elsewhere.
As mentioned, the UOC-MP priest wrote in a police statement that the dead man, “shouting threats to hang us, began to drag us to the cross … after which he fell on the asphalt and died in the convulsion.”
The UOC-MP also released a video clip of the incident.
Recall that on April 2, UOC-MP priests beat a military man in Khmelnitsky. On the same day, the church community decided to move to OCU, and Metropolitan Anthony gave him the keys of the Holy Intercession Cathedral.
