As part of the exercises, it is planned to make maneuvers in the Taiwan Strait and in the north, south and east of the island.
China announced three days of military exercises around Taiwan after the island’s leader visited the United States and met with the speaker of the House of Representatives. This was reported by CNN.
According to the Chinese military’s Eastern Command, the maneuvers are “a serious warning against the clash of Taiwan’s separatist forces with outside forces and the necessary actions to protect national sovereignty.”
It was noted that within the framework of the exercises it is planned to conduct maneuvers in the Taiwan Strait and in the north, south and east of the island, with the participation of the navy and air forces.
After China’s announcement, Taiwan’s defense department said 42 Chinese aircraft were recorded in the strait, of which 29 crossed the conditional median line and entered the air defense identification zone.
Notably, China condemned the meeting held in the United States between the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the US Congress, Kevin McCarthy, and the President of Taiwan, Tsai Ing-wen.
China has imposed sanctions on Taiwan’s representative to the United States, Xiao Bi-Him, barring him and family members from entering the country.
