Some Tesla employees have been sharing private photos and videos taken by cameras in their customers’ cars for years.
Snapshots of clients in awkward situations were circulated in private or personal chats. One of the former employees of the company spoke about a video in which a naked man walked next to his car.
Other recordings were more serious: one of the videos showed an accident where a car hit a child on a bicycle.
Often, company employees would share ordinary things, such as photos of funny dogs or road signs.
Frankly, it was a breach of privacy. I always joked that I would never buy a Tesla after seeing how they treat customers,” said a former employee of the company.
Some of the recordings were turned into memes by employees, embellished with funny captions or comments, and then posted in private group chats. Even the owner of the company, Elon Musk, became a “victim”: employees identified him behind the frames from the garage, where the white Lotus Esprit submarine bought by the billionaire from the 1977 James Bond movie stood next to the car.
