Accession to the EU roaming space will ensure modern and clear European rules in the field of telecommunications.

The Cabinet of Ministers approved a document that will allow Ukraine to conclude an agreement on joining the “roaming visa-free” with the European Union this year. Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram.

“We are moving towards a” roaming visa-free “in the EU. Today, April 7, we approved a document that will allow Ukraine to conclude an agreement with the European Union this year,” he wrote.

According to the prime minister, joining the roaming space of the EU means not only the elimination of call charges, but also modern and transparent European rules in the field of telecommunications.

First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Economy Yulia Sviridenko noted that this decision will create conditions for Ukraine to get an internal market regime in the field of roaming. This area will be a “pilot” for full legal integration of Ukraine in intra-European regulation.

The Cabinet of Ministers is implementing an updated priority action plan agreed by the Ministry of Economy and the European Commission to strengthen the implementation of the free trade agreement. The main focus of this plan is the integration of Ukraine into the EU internal market.

Recall that earlier seven Ukrainian and 20 European mobile and fixed-line operators signed a new joint statement on the coordination of efforts to provide affordable roaming for Ukrainians in the EU.
