Chinese leader Xi Jinping has called for the resumption of peace talks to resolve the “crisis in Ukraine”.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, in a trilateral meeting with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and the French leader Emmanuel Macron, emphasized that China’s position on the “crisis in Ukraine” is to support the peace talks, reports Ukrinform.
“China’s position on Ukraine is to support peace talks. China calls on the parties to be reasonable and jointly create conditions for peace talks,” the Chinese leader said.
At the trilateral meeting, the Chinese leader also mentioned that China always determines its position independently, based on its own interests.
Xi Jinping stressed that the priority right now is to promote a cessation of hostilities, as well as prevent fires and problems from escalating.
“China supports the EU’s efforts to propose strategies and plans for a political settlement of the ‘Ukraine crisis’, as well as building a balanced, effective and sustainable European security structure,” said the head of China.
Recall that the previous spokesman of the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, said that the situation in Ukraine does not show any prospects for a peaceful settlement, including with the help of China.
