Miley Cyrus responded to Selena Gomez’s “Saturday Night Live” joke about her as a form of branding.
Gomez, in a monologue that opened the show over the weekend, said he sought advice from friend Cyrus because the “Wrecking Ball” singer has appeared on the show several times.
“Be yourself and have fun,” Gomez said of his friend’s leadership, perfectly mimicking Cyrus ’game in the south.
“I said, ‘Miley, is this just an excuse to impress you on the show?'” Gomez joked.
Cyrus was clearly a dead impression and recognized Gomez’s monologue in a handmade t-shirt he posted on Instagram on Tuesday.
“Hell, yeah, I’m Miley Cyrus,” she said. Obviously.
Cyrus tagged “SNL” and Gomez in his caption and included a clip from the show in the presentation in case anyone was confused.
Below is Gomez’s complete monologue:
While the two former Disney stars are close now, things aren’t always like this. Gomez had previously explained that they had bad blood, because they wanted the same person.
“We didn’t fight. “We liked the same guy when we were 16,” Gomez told W in a 2016 interview. “It was just a Hillary Duff-Lindsay Lohan thing: ‘My God, we like the same guy!’
After the reconciliation, Gomez appeared on Cyrus ’live talk show on Instagram during the“ Bright Minded ”pandemic and heard about his bipolar diagnosis.
